Public Order Act 01/01/ 2008 protects the peace of the public domain.


Section 1

The following offences are now carrying a 25 minute jail sentence with a $12,000 fine;

*Evading police (Using a motor vehicle)
*Fleeing police (On foot)



Section 2

The following offences are now carrying a 20 minute jail sentence with a $8,000 fine;

*Drunken & disorderly conduct
*Riotous behaviour
*Failure to follow orders given by a Police Officer
*Hostile behaviour to members of the public
*Anti-social behaviour including moving in large crowds and damage of public property
*Aiding and abetting
*Wasting police/emergency service time
*Wasting police/emergency service resources
*Resisting arrest


Section 3

The following offences are now carrying a 10 minute jail sentence with a $5,000 fine;

*Breach of the peace
*Obstruction of justice
*Verbal Assault
*Deception
*Stalking


Section 4

The following offences are now carrying a 10 minute jail sentence with a $2,500 fine;

*Lying to police
*Failing to identify one's name to police
*Failing to provide a drivers license
*Bribery
